This beautiful but small state park is about a 40 minute drive from Bryce Canyon City and provides great hiking trails and a lovely campground. If you want to escape the crowds of Bryce head to Kodachrome. The park is full of sandstone chimneys and tall monolithic spires which change colors throughout the day.
There are several hiking trails in the area but we decided to try the Angels Palace Trail since it was described as being the best to get a good overview of the basin and also great for photographers.
The state park also has a small campground with sites with full hookups and some without. They all have fabulous views. Looks like an ideal place to camp and hike.
Basin Campground
Even though the state park is small in comparison with other parks it is still beautiful and has outstanding scenery.
This is just a beautiful state park and we thoroughly enjoyed our time visiting it. The drive to and from Bryce Canyon to the state park was a very lovely scenic drive too!
Now if I can only get that dang song out of my head!
“Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world’s a sunny day
I got a Nikon Canon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don’t take my Kodachrome away”
