Grande Hot Springs RV Resort – La Grande, Oregon

Today’s adventure had us driving to northeast Oregon’s Blue Mountains to some hot springs!! We departed Glenns’s Ferry in Idaho and traveled into the northeast corner of Oregon skirting the Snake River for some of the way.

The Grande Hot Springs RV Resort is about 8 miles southeast of La Grande. It offers 100 sites that are each 100′ long along with a tiny house, 2 yurts, a group tent site, and individual tent sites. They have a lovely office, laundry facilities, and of course, hot springs!

Comments: A beautiful, well maintained RV park with both an RV park feel and a campground feel. The setting is wonderful, the staff was courteous and efficient, and the nature trails were fun. We loved it here.

Yes, the resort had a feel of an RV park with sites close together but there was nice grass, great scenery, level sites, wide streets, and a good feel. The spa/springs were in back of the office and in the evenings they offer adult only time.

The resort offers not only RV sites but also yurts and tent camping.

There is a short nature trail that winds around the back of the facility along a canal. There are a few small bridges over the canal, lots of birdhouses, snakes, frogs, birds, and even some barn owls. The area is known as a bird photography area as there is also a nature reserve across from the resort.

Next to the resort is Hot Lake Springs and the Lodge Hot Lake Springs which was built in 1864. The hot springs emerge from the bluff of the Blue Mountains and were supposedly used by Native Americans and eventually European settlers. The say they springs bubble about a half a million gallons per day with the average temperature of the lake around 200 F (93C). The hotel was featured on an ABC documentary titled “The Scariest Places on Earth” after a series of strange events occurred. The building is also on the National Register of Historic Places.

An absolutely lovely place and a great way to spend a few days.
