Our drive from Twin Falls to Ketchum, Idaho took us past Shoshone Ice Caves so we had to stop and check it out. Interesting place is what we have to say but we had fun!! The caves are a lava tube which have an ice floor year round regardless of the temperature outside. There is a 3 story tall Native American outside in the parking lot that watches over your car while you are in the cave touring. There is also a large dinosaur with a hairy caveman riding him also in the parking lot. Along with a small museum and a gift shop there is plenty to see and do here.
On to Ketchum we drove passing through Hailey and on to Meadows RV Park. The RV park is a simple park right on the main highway 75 and it the only game in town so to speak. There is a variety of national forest campgrounds further north and a bit of dispersed camping here and there but in mid summer it can be difficult to find a site. Plus with the high temperatures a bit of A/C is always a welcome amenity. The RV park isn’t much to look at but it sure gave us a nice location close to all the local attractions.
RV Park: Meadows RV Park
Location: Ketchum, Idaho
Site: 28 (pull thru)
Cost: $66.96
Services: FHU (50AMP)
Comments: There was no check-in upon arrival and the office was closed but I did notice a stack of paperwork outside and found our reservation along with our site number and we proceeded to the site. Very simple. Sites are very close together but we were gone most of the days so it worked out fine.
The RV park has 2 rows of pull thru sites and a few cabins. The sites pretty much all looked the same.
The RV park has seen better days and is a bit run down but it was in a good location for getting around the area. It is right next to the Wood River Bike Trail which is a 20+ mile paved trail (year round, non motorized) which you can hike or bike between Bellevue, Hailey, Ketchum, and Sun Valley. More on that in our next post.
