Bashaw is a small charming town near the shores of Buffalo Lake in central Alberta yet less than an hours drive from some of the larger cities in the area such as Red Deer, Stettler, and Camrose. It is a farming community with an abundance of productive croplands along with an agricultural facility and fairgrounds which offers a weekly farmer’s market, a campground, and a dump station and fresh water. A perfect place for us to stop and empty/fill our tanks…and maybe sneak over to the liquor store to fill up there too!

The town sure likes to welcome people and the signs just a keep on coming! We love towns like this.
We stopped at the fairgrounds to empty our tanks and lo and behold this is what we were met with. Never a good sign when you see something like this…now what? Hmmm……
Only one way to solve this problem….and Off we go! There’s never a problem we can’t handle!!
Back to the fairgrounds which are lovely. The town has been around since 1910 or 1911 and they have a few commemorative monuments/statues.
Additionally, the flowers around the town are beautiful! If you are in the area and want some beautiful hanging baskets or any kind of flowers during the spring then stop by Sunbrite Greenhouse which is about 13km further east on Hwy 53 at Range Road 202. A beautiful greenhouse and friendly staff await you!
Now it’s time to head on. We have grocery shopped, dumped tanks, loaded up on liquor, shopped some more, and now off to find water! Did I mention how stinking hot and humid it was? It was stinking hot and humid…we need water!!
