We departed Deer Lake and headed east on Trans Canada Highway through Grand Falls Windsor and onto Lewisporte. Lewisporte looked like a lovely area with a deep water port which is ice free and provides ferry services to Labrador along with aviation fuel for Gander International Airport.
Welcome to Dildo Run Provincial Park which sits on New World Island and has about 55 campsites with many on the waters edge. The name comes from…who knows…some say it comes from a phallus-shaped pin stuck in the edge of a row boat to pivot the oar and others say it is the combination of French words d’isle d’eau (island water). Whichever it is, it is a lovely campground and a good location for visiting Twillingate and the Fogo Islands!
Campground: Dildo Run Provincial Park

Comments: A beautiful campground with our site right on the water. There was plenty of area to walk the beaches (rocks). We were basically the only ones there and loved it!!
The campground offers some great RV sites and tent sites right on the water with lots of privacy. The provincial parks in Newfoundland offer emergency fire extinguishes located conveniently throughout the campground and also provide a trash can and a recycling container at every site! Thank you!
The waterfront sites are located on Notre Dam bay and it is beautiful area to explore at low tide. The rocks are all different colors and you can see islands speckled all over. A beautiful, beautiful place.
