A good place to stop while heading to Vancouver to celebrate Christmas with family as it is close to the border. Sometimes a bad time of the year to be traveling over passes due to potential snow.
Campground: Birch Bay State Park
Location: Blaine, Washington (just south of the British Columbia border)
Site: 19 (on the way north to Vancouver) & 22 (on the way south from Vancouver)
Cost: $27

Comments: A lovely state park right by the water and a perfect stopping off point if leaving Canada late in the day and you get stuck in a massive snowstorm. We managed to find a site in the pitch black and during a snow storm.
