We could walk just a few steps and be on the beach and then were able to walk for miles on a wide open uncrowded beach. We hiked the beach up to Waldport which is about 4 miles and visited the Alesa Bay Historic Interpretive Center which was well worth the visit. That left plenty of time to walk into town and have lunch and walk back. It can be a bit difficult taking the beach route when it is high tide so be sure to check the tide schedule. We just walked through a bit of slushy water near the bay.
