Quail Creek State Park is a lovely, small state park located right off Hwy 9 on the western most end of Hurricane. It is located on the west side of Quail Creek reservoir, which is about ¼ the size of Sand Hollow reservoir. It has a small campground, dry camping, on the side of the hill with sites advertised as being for 28’ foot rigs or less. We asked the park ranger about limitations and she didn’t know of any so we drove around and found a few sites where a larger rig could possibly fit.
The campground gets shaded early in the day due to the mountains to the west. This would be a welcome relief during the hot summer but not wanted during the winter. All sites looked like they have fabulous views of the reservoir.
And don’t forget to visit Grandpa’s Pond, just to the east of Quail Creek.
