We were stopping in Durango for a few days and wanted someplace to stay a bit out of town. We had considered staying in Mancos either boondocking off Highway 160 (off forest road 316) or at Target Tree Campground which is a National Forest campground.
The road along Hwy 160 was being re-paved and was down to one lane and Target Tree Campground was closed with maintenance vehicles parked in the entrance. Off to Durango!
We ended up staying in Durango at the KOA outside of town. It worked out perfectly.
RV Park: Durango KOA
Location: Durango, Colorado
Site: 75
Cost: $56
Services: FHU
Comments: A nice site with a private deck with a porch swing, a large outdoor table, two outdoors chairs, and a firepit. Fine for a short stay. The hosts were incredibly friendly and the park was almost full but quiet and peaceful.
Looks like a lovely place to hang out for a few days. That cold weather should be showing up soon, I would think.
Yep, it is almost time to be further south…much further south!!
