We drove west from Hamiltons Fort, Utah through the farm fields of western Utah. It is a lovely drive and one we have taken various times before. We see many of the same sites including the RV on top of the hill
It isn’t long before we enter Nevada and head on into Panaca. The town is a quaint farming community of about 1000 people and sits at almost 5,000 feet elevation.
On our drive we pass by the west side of Wheeler Peak. Wheeler is part of Great Basin National Park with the entrance to it on the east side of the peak. The mountain stands at just over 13,000 feet.
We stopped at Cathedral Gorge State Park – Miller Point Overlook for a lunch break. We have stopped there before and it is a perfect spot to stretch your legs and enjoy the scenery. There are restrooms and covered picnic tables and outstanding views.
From Cathedral Gorge we continued on for a few hours to Ely, Nevada for a quick overnight. We have stayed here many times before and a few times in the winter with freezing temperatures and lots of snow and ice on the ground. It was strange to be there in the high heat.

Comments: A typical RV park and is our usual RV park when driving through Ely. Its our old standby!
The RV park has teepees and covered wagons along with a few cabins to stay in should you not have an RV.
The RV Park is your typical RV park and sits along Hwy 93. There is little to no noise in the night so it makes for nice rest. The sites are level, the roads are wide, the staff is friendly, and all in all it is a perfect spot for a quick overnight.
