The Coeur d’Alene Resort sits on the northern shores of the lake, right in the center of town, and is known for its golf course with a floating green and its great marina and water activities (along with its great hotel and restaurants). We slipped our boat at the Resort Marina for a number of years before we thought the area got to be too crowded so we moved our boat to Hayden Lake. We loved the amenities at the resort and it provided for years of fun but it was time to move on.

Tubbs Hill is a 165-acre natural area on a peninsula along the lake right in town and provides several miles of hiking trails with spectacular scenery. The trailhead starts in McEuen Park.

Hayden is a suburb of Coeur d’Alene to the north. It also has a lake, Hayden Lake, which is another place where we slipped our boat for a number of years.The Hayden Lake Marina has a restaurant, The Boathouse, that we have enjoyed for many, many years so we thought we would return for a meal during this trip. We went during off hours, there was plenty of social distancing, we sat outside, and employees were wearing masks. It was our first restaurant outing in about 5 months!! It was great to be back and the food was great!!

Enjoying our first restaurant outing in over 5 months!

The local swimming beach at Hayden Lake is called Honeysuckle Beach which is right by our previous house. We have spent lots of time at this beach over the years. There is a nice dyke to walk on and you can swim and fish from there too. We had to go visit it and check out anything new.

Bayview is located about 4 miles north east of Farragut State Park along Lake Pend Oreille. It is a quaint, charming community with multiple marinas (favorite location for sailboat moorage) and quite a number of picturesque float homes. The average depth of Lake Pend Oreille is around 1,100 feet therefore the US Naval Acoustic Research Detachment has a facility there where large-scale submarine models are tested.
