Westview RV Park – Wetaskiwin, Alberta

We departed Camrose and headed to Wetaskiwin for a few days to unwind before our big family get-together. We passed the beautiful canola fields and headed on to Wetaskiwin. The town is located about 40 miles from Edmonton and has a population of over 12,000 people. The city name comes from the Cree word which translates to “the hills where peace was made”.

Wetaskiwin is home to the Reynolds-Alberta Museum which is a fantastic museum and directly across the street from our RV park. We have visited it before and loved it. It is dedicated to the spirit of the machine and includes over 6,600 pieces of equipment from agricultural, industrial, and transportation collections. It was conceived by a man named Stan Reynolds who had collected a large amount of machinery, airplanes, and automobiles which he eventually donated to the government of Alberta to showcase in a museum.

The Westview RV Park is part of the Willow Inn. You drive to the Inn and go into their lobby to check in for the RV park.

Comments: A beautifully maintained gated RV park. It was quiet and peaceful and had terrific views. The sites were level and clean.

It was just before a holiday weekend so the park wasn’t very crowded as everyone was in Camrose for the Big Valley Jamboree (BVJ). They have quite a number of nice sites in two different loops with some nice pull-thrus and also some nice back-ins and many had lovely views of the surrounding fields with great sunsets.

The field directly behind some of the campsites is private property but it is beautiful to view from the campground.

The laundry room is fairly new, modern, and quite lovely which is rare at a campground. There is an outdoor seating area just outside the laundry room that is very nice too.

There is a playground with a small zipline, tetherball, a volleyball net, and playground equipment along with a few nice big fields for the kiddies to run and play in. I was a tetherball champion in elementary school so I EASILY beat Norm!

There is also a small pond to fish in or sit around and picnic. No license required but you have to buy a ticket in the office.

The Willow Inn has 12 rooms and offers a light breakfast for guests. It is a lovely, modern motel and the staff is friendly and helpful. There is a group campsite across from the Inn which they allow campers to use when rooms are also booked by the same party. This is quite convenient for family get-togethers/reunions.

The owners have a house behind the Inn along with a chicken coop.

They also have a lovely garden close to the chickens.

The owners offered for us to go pick anything that we wanted in the garden so we made our way over there and picked some carrots, beans, and dug for potatoes! It was quite a nice haul and quite delicious! Thank You!!

Of course we had to watch out for Jack The Cat who kept making an appearance where we least likely expected him.

We had a lovely time there as it was peaceful, quiet, and had beautiful views. It allowed us to recharge for the upcoming weekend for the BIG FAMILY CAMPOUT!!! Watch out!!
