We encountered quite a bit of rain after leaving Sunset Bay so we decided to head indoors and discovered the wonderful Umpqua Discovery Center in Reedsport, Oregon. We ended spending almost the entire day there. No one else was there so we had the place to ourselves and just took our time and “discovered”. There’s a little cafe there overlooking the water where you can warm up with a nice bowl of hot soup and a cup of coffee. Made for a perfect day.
The next day we decided to brave the weather and headed to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. We spent a bit of time in the Visitor’s Center and watched the movie and then headed over to the dunes for a hike. Did I mention it rained? It not only rained, it poured. It was only sprinkling when we started the hike but by the time we got to the beach it was an all out downpour. It took about an hour to get back to the parking lot at which time we were soaked. Did I mention it rained??? Well, you can’t let a little (or a lot of) rain spoil your day. Get out and get going!
It was all we could do to find the entrance to the Washburne State Park it was raining so hard but we made it. We took long hot showers and had a nice dinner and got all warm and cozy!
