Snow Canyon State Park is a small park near St. George, Utah which has a campground and over 38 miles of hiking trails along with some bike and equestrian trails. The park is known for its red rocks and sand dunes amongst other things.
Lava Flow Trail
The Lava Flow trail is a rocky lava trail which leads to lava tubes that you can go explore but make sure to bring a flashlight and be prepared for some tight squeezes. Even if you don’t crawl through the tubes the trail is still a beautiful hike with outstanding views.
Sand Dunes
The trail for the Sand Dunes is really a big sandbox full of hills and red sand that are perfect for playing in and there are views of the red rocks in the surrounding area. Too bad they don’t rent sleds!
Jenny’s Canyon
Jenny’s Canyon Trail is a short, easy hike to a sculpted slot canyon. The trail was named after a young deceased 15 year old woman who used to love to visit here.
Snow Canyon State Park Campground
The small campground in Snow Canyon State Park accepts reservations and offers both hookups (water and electric) and dry camping areas. The Hook Ups are side by side reverse sites (passenger side to passenger side) which are really, really close together. Refer to the photos below for views of the hookup sites. The campground warns that use of slides and/or awnings may not be possible.
The dry Camping sites have much more privacy, some sites are long and narrow and some are short, and there are only about 10 sites or less so there may be difficulty in finding a site available much less one that fits your rig.
If we really thought we could get one of the few long dry camping sites (as the hookup sites are just too narrow) we might stay at this campground as it is a lovely area and has access to some great hiking trails. I would guess a reservation would be required to ensure your visit.
