We are back to the home of the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake and the Peach Faced Love Birds. We have encountered both of these here before and have lived to tell about it (more so because of the rattlesnake, not the Love Birds). We enjoy this campground and the hiking trails and the great views.
Campground: Usery Mountain Regional Park

Site: 39 (back-in)
Cost: $30
Services: W/E (50AMP)
Comments: One of the “return-to-parks” that we continue to visit due to the proximity to family and the great hiking. The campground is always neat and clean and we have enjoyed most sites we have stayed at but we think site 39 and 41 are the two best sites in the campground due to their privacy and their views.
Our campsite offered great views of not only the mountains at Usery but also the Superstition Mountains where we just came from. And, of course, the sunsets were always entertaining!
The park offers a variety of hiking trails with the most famous (most used) being the hike to Wind Caves on Pass Mountain which is a great hike and well worth it. It is about 3 miles round trip to hike up to the caves and back. There is also a longer hike which travels around Pass Mountain and is about 7.5 miles. We hiked it one day going clockwise and the next day going counter clockwise. Either way is great!
We attended the Chinese lantern exhibit at the fairgrounds one night called the “Lights of the World”. It was a fabulous display of landmarks around the world displayed with Chinese lanterns. Very interesting and beautiful!
