Acadia National Park
Acadia National Park is located on Mount Desert Island on the Atlantic Coast in Maine. The town of Bar Harbor is close by and offers restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions. The park is known mainly for its rocky coastal shoreline and granite peaks. The highest point on the United States east coast is Cadillac Mountain which offers tremendous views of the many, many islands which dot the Atlantic.

Bar Harbor
The town of Bar Harbor sits close to Acadia National Park and is home to a little over 5,000 people. It is a very touristy town which overflows in the summer during the height of the season. It is full of restaurants, lodging, souvenir shops, and plenty of ways to spend your money with boats rides and cruises.

Northeast Harbor
Not far from our campground, Blackwoods Campground, lies the lovely village of Northeast Harbor. We tended to spend more time in this quaint village than in Bar Harbor. It also has a lovely library with WiFi and a gas fireplace to keep us warm and cozy during those cold, rainy afternoons while dry camping. The Azalea Gardens are located there and are absolutely stunning, especially on an overcast misty day which we had daily!
