Campground: Dungeness Recreation Area Location: Olympic Peninsula, Sequim, Washington Site: 49 Cost: $18 Services: Dry camp Comments: Our site was private and spacious and right next to walking trails along a cliff with beautiful views of the water. The Dungeness Spit was within walking distance. Love, love, loved this place.

Another great national park with lots of hiking opportunities and endless scenery. One of the hiking trails started out as an interpretive trail, large, wide, paved, signs and quickly turned into an uphill overgrown thicket of brush. Goose Island State Park is close to Aransas National Wildlife Refuge where you might get a chance to view the Whooping Cranes. In 1942 there were only 16 Whooping Cranes and by now, 2008, there are just over 300. The Wood Buffalo/Aransas flock accounts for about 227. AND they migrate
